From Shueisha have announced what will be the distribution of the animated television adaptation of the series of novels Ulysses: Jeanne d'Arc to Renkin no Kishi by Mikage Kasuga via a presentation held within the framework of Machi Asobi this weekend. The anime will premiere in October.


Shin Itagaki (Teekyu, Wake Up Girls! New Chapter) will be the director of the anime under the studio AXsiZ (Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san). Ryunosuke Kingetsu (Maerchen Maedchen) will be in charge of the series composition, being Jouji Sawada (Golden Kids) who adapts the character designs to the anime. Ryosuke Naya (Haitai Nanafa, Magical Girl Site) will be the sound director, while Taku Iwasaki (Bungo Stray Dogs) will be the composer of the music.

The story is set in the 15th century, during the Hundred Years' War between France and England over the succession to the French throne. Montmorency, the son of a noble, immerses himself in the studies of magic and alchemy at a royal knight training school. However, following France's crushing defeat at Agincourt, the school is dissolved. Having lost everything and now a wanted man, Montmorency, who had just become an alchemist, encounters a mysterious village girl named Jehanne.

Kasuga launched the first volume with illustrations by Tomari Meron in August 2015, while the fourth and most recent one went on sale last February 23. The volume Ulysses 0: Jeanne d'Arc to Hime Kishi Dancho Kuroshi is a prequel and was released on October 25.
