The Vinland Saga manga will have anime for television by Wit Studio

On Monday, a website and a Twitter account were released for an animated television adaptation of the manga Vinland Saga by Makoto Yukimura. The study in charge of the adaptation will be Wit Studio (Shingeki no Kyojin, Magus Bride).

The anime will be broadcast on television and can be viewed via streaming as an Amazon Prime exclusive in both Japan and the West.

Yukimura made the illustration under these lines to commemorate the announcement.



Thorfinn is the son of one of the greatest Viking warriors to have existed, but when his father dies in battle at the hands of the mercenary leader Askeladd, he swears revenge on him. Thorfinn will join the group of Askeladd to win the right to challenge him in a duel, and ends up being involved in a war for the crown of England.

The manga was released in the Weekly Shonen Magazine of Kodansha in 2005, going on to be published in the pages of the Afternoon shortly after. His compilation volume number 20 was put on sale on November 22 and to date there are more than 5 million copies of the work in progress.

Vinland Saga se ha llevado además varios premios, incluyendo el Premio al Mejor Manga General en la edición número 36 de los Premios Manga Kodansha en 2012, o el Primer Premio en los Japan Media Arts Festival Awards en el año 2009.
