The manga Dororo of Osamu Tezuka will have a new anime

Recently he opened an official website to announce a second animated television adaptation of the Dororo manga by Osamu Tezuka. MAPPA and Tezuka Productions will be in charge of animating the project for Twin Engine, being Amazon the one that emits the series via streaming exclusively for both Japan and the West.

The sleeve of historical and supernatural theme was already adapted to a series of 26 episodes in black and white in 1969.


The setting is the middle of the Muromachi Period, during the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei. The story begins in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District. The main character (Hyakkimaru), who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts. 


The original Tezuka manga was published in 1967 and in 2007 it was also adapted to a real image film.
