NBC Universal has opened a website for the animated television adaptation of the Grand Blue manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, revealing with it its main team, a first promotional video and that the series will be released next summer.
Shinji Takamatsu (Gintama, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou) will be the director, scriptwriter and sound director under the Zero-G animation studio. Hideoki Kusama (Battery) will be the character designer.
The manga is centered on a university student who lives alone in a coastal city and who knows someone in a superior course who loves diving.
Inoue, author of the series of novels Baka to Test, and the artist Yoshioka (Rinne no Lagrange: Akatsuki no Memory) launched the manga on the pages of the Good! Afternook of Kodansha in April 2014, counting since then with nine compilation volumes.
