The story of the original manga takes us to the New York of the 80s, where Ash Lynx is an attractive young man who has become a murderous murderer over time. As a child he ran away from home and ended up being adopted heir, right hand and sex toy of "Papa" Dino Golzine, the crime lord of the east coast of Corsica. Ash is now 17 years old and looks with disdain on the crime empire of his evil adoptive father and prefers to be freer with a small but loyal group of thugs in the streets. But "Papa" is not willing to let him go like that, especially when he has just discovered the secret that made Ash's older brother in Vietnam crazy.
Eiji Okamura is a young Japanese photographer who arrives in New York and befriends Ash Lynx at the worst possible moment, falling with him in the spiral of violence, pride, greed, lust and anger unleashed by the enigmatic code known as Banana Fish ...

The manga was published in the pages of the magazine Bessatsu Shojo Comic Shogakukan between 1985 and 1994, compiled in a total of 19 volumes and this is his first animated adaptation, although he has made the leap to the theater several times previously.
